We have been asked what is the Kallaroo Residents’ Association and why bother with having an association, so we thought we would write this short blog. Hope this helps…….
When was KRA created?
It began back in 2018 with a group of residents coming together, with the association officially being created in 2019. So we are incorporated as an association under the Associations Incorporation Act with the Department of Consumer Protection.
Why was KRA created?
It started with a group of residents coming together after being impacted by the surprise infill levels in our area way back in 2018, who found it hard to engage with our representatives in an organised way and could see that other areas with residents' associations were being listened to. There was a lack of an organised community voice from Kallaroo residents as the Northshore Residents Association had been absorbed into what was then the Northshore Tennis Club, now the Northshore Community Hub, which had members from both Kallaroo and outside of Kallaroo so it was decided to formally create KRA.
What is KRA all about?
KRA has a committee of diverse dedicated residents who love where they live and being involved in the community of Kallaroo. They encourage residents to bring their passion and ideas for Kallaroo to life by working with KRA.
We have aims which guide us in everything that we do:
- To liaise with and have communication with, the City of Joondalup Administration and Council or any other appropriate body in all matters affecting Kallaroo, to assist in this aim of furthering the Kallaroo Residents’ Association objectives.
- To act as a representative Association for the residents of Kallaroo on issues that are important to, and affect, the local community.
- To ensure that any further development respects the natural features and environment of Kallaroo and is in accordance with the wishes of the majority of members.
- To uphold and maintain the interests and rights of the residents and ratepayers of Kallaroo and lobby Government on behalf of our community for better and increased amenity in Kallaroo
- To interact with residents, businesses and community service groups and organisations within Kallaroo.
- To communicate with residents and the Kallaroo community on topical local issues. To protect the natural bush, parkland and environment of Kallaroo.
- To remain non-profit and apolitical at all times.
What has KRA achieved for Kallaroo?
We’ve taken on issues that are important to our members and worked with them, our elected representatives and state and local governments to find solutions. We have several different blogs on our website about issues we have been involved in over the years. Some examples have been tree canopy retention, hooning, mountain bike trails for teenagers, chemical spray signage, community garden, cleaning up after dogs in our park, future of our coastline and beaches, water quality at our beaches, homelessness and graffiti.
Notable achievements have been obtaining funding for a dedicated hoon camera and the progression of an idea for an interconnected urban mountain bike trail.
The City of Joondalup recently acknowledged KRA with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of our contribution to the community and the City of Joondalup.

How much does membership cost?
KRA are fortunate to have wonderful local sponsors, Listed Estate Agents and Pinnaroo Cemetery Plaques, which allows us to provide free membership. Kallaroo residents can join by completing the online form on our website or simply email us at
