Northshore Drive & Avenue Roadworks & Car Park
After 2 petitions, numerous questions, public statements and a presentation to Council, KRA and impacted Kallaroo Residents met twice with City of Joondalup Officers to discuss road and car park plans for Northshore Drive and Avenue.
What we know so far:
- The Officers don't support removing the median, but support reducing it from 8m to 4m.
- As a rough guide, the road width would extend to the current wooden bollards.
- The current beach car park will be changed to left‑turn exit only.
- The roundabout design below will be adjusted to protect as many trees as possible, locating the footpath within the existing trees.
- All mature tuart trees will be preserved.
- A new car park on the eastern side may be considered in future budgets (2027/28–2028/29), estimated at $400k.
- The City confirmed no needs assessment has been completed for extra parking at this location.

Below are the draft plans for the roadworks only, noting that the City has since agreed to redesign the pathway at the roundabout to minimise impacts to existing trees and has committed to no impacts to the mature tuart trees in this section.
KRA will continue to advocate for informed and transparent engagement regarding the need to spend $400,000 on a new car park so close to homes when so many of our community assets need repairs and renewal.
