Noticed the increased evidence of dog owners not picking up after their dogs in our Kallaroo parks?
We did, and contacted our local Councillor Phillip Vinciullo and made some suggestions to help raise awareness of this issue. We noted that COJ had appeared to work with local schools in other areas to display students’ artwork on park bins and suggested that this might be a good initiative to introduce in the Kallaroo area. Signage had been spotted at other parks around the area.
Cr. Vinciullo kindly followed up with COJ and we are delighted to advise that signs have already been erected in Belrose Park and Bridgewater Park.
Below is an extract of correspondence from COJ to Cr. Vinciullo regarding the artwork on bins.
“In relation to the artwork displayed on some of the park bins, this initiative was developed in 2022 as a school competition with the winning designs used for the artwork. The City will look to undertake a similar program in the near future, whereby the schools can once again contribute to the messaging and awareness of this issue.”
Hopefully this will help to alleviate the problem but we would ask all dog owners to respect the local parks and remain vigilant and pick up after your dogs. The buck stops with you!
Thank you to Cr. Vinciullo for your prompt response to our concerns.
